Wat Phnom Temple Construction History
Phnom Penh Capital was first established in 15th century during Ponhea Yat after he left Angkor City, later built a palace in Toul Bassan (in Srey Sar Chhor Province, now is Srey Santhor Village of Kompong Cham Province). However, since Toul Bassan was not a location which preferable for a King's Palace and was heavily flooded during rainy season, in 1434 King Ponhea Yat moved his palace to a dry city situated near a four rivers confluence which is called Phnom Penh Capital nowadays.
