WHO based in Western Pacific Supports Phnom Penh Authority’s Activities

Mrs. TOUCH Sarom, deputy governor of Phnom Penh Capital allowed Dr. Shin Young-soo, director of World Health Organization ( WHO ) in Western Pacific Region and director of WHO based in Cambodia to a courtesy meeting and discuss previous activities of Phnom Penh Capital Hall in terms of household waste, medical waste, traffic situation, welfare, especially the nutrition improvement on July 10th,2012. However, these activities have not yet totally replied to the citizen’s welfare but just reminding their attention to change their old habit step by step, take care and prevent communicable disease such as dengue fever and other kind of malady which Phnom Penh authority also pay high attention. Furthermore, the authority also supports dissemination posters on citizen’s welfare. Obviously, we will organize the 2nd step of dengue fever campaign in July and conduct workshop in September this year with the relevant partners to improve health sector and citizen’s welfare in the capital.

In this occasion, Dr. Shin Young-soo has thanked Mrs. deputy governor for her warm welcome and identified the mission goal which was to improve the welfare in the city by promoting the participation from concerning authority to prevent other communicable disease. Herewith, he also shows his worry about some people who did not use the medical treatment correctly based on the medical prescription which will cause bad impacts for next treatment. On the other hand, he also appreciated the effort of Phnom Penh Authority for its active participation in the regional welfare improvement. He mentioned the experiences in some countries and cities which created the technical teams regarding the city welfare improvement. Finally, he expected that Phnom Penh Authority will set up this kind of technical team to facilitate with relevant institutions and WHO is always welcome to Phnom Penh Authority’s activities.
