Statue of Ganesh Erected in the Middle of Sen Monorom Park

Sen Monorom Park, with the Statue of Ganesh (Elephant Head Statue) is its unique feature, located in Monorom commune, 7 Makara district, was inaugurated on 2nd February 2012 by H.E Governor KEP Chuk Tema and Madam.

According the construction report, this special park was before an abundant grass plot of land, and then it became a PTT gas station at the junction between Monivong Blvd and Russian Blvd. The area was finally developed into a new unique garden, by H.E Governor KEP Chuk Tema, and it will be regarded as a symbol of a peaceful city and a new face of enhancing the area of administration location of the Government because the park is near the main road which captures all kind of delegation eyes. Riel
(about 110,000USD inc. the Statue made of pure grey-stone delivered from Preah Vihear Provicne) by Phnom Penh Capital Hall covers on the establishment of green zone area 1143m2, Statue of Ganesh 7.75m, park site-walk 200m2, laying grass 494.44 m2, installation of 6 light poles, growing 4 "Snay" (a kind of tree), 6 palm trees and various kind of flowers.

In that occasion, H.E Governor highlighted that the park with the Ganesh Statue is marked as another achievement in Phnom Penh and as a preparation for Cambodia to host the coming ASEAN Submit 2012. Furthermore, this statue is believed to bring good luck, happiness, prosperity and peace to the country and her people. H.E Governor also appreciates expert officials who have done a good job for the statue which indicates a promising Angkorian art and architecture of Khmer ancestors, inherited to next generations, and it could lift up the image of Phnom Penh along with modern skyscrapers which together turns the Capital into a true Charming one.
