Phnom Penh Attended 7th PBG Forum

In response to the request from Nanning authority, Guangxi, China, H.E Governor assigned his representative Mr. KHOURN Sreng, to participate in The 7th Pan-Beibu Gulf Economic Cooperation Forum (PBG) held in China from 11th to 14th July 2012, presided over by Her Excellency CHEN ZHILI, Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of National People's Congress of China, honorably attended by senior figures of China ASEAN and around 400 delegates from Brunei, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam.

The meeting focuses on economic corridor cooperation Nanning-Singapore under the principle of equal benefits and mutual understanding within the framework of ASEAN-China. Furthermore, the forum has appealed all countries in the region ASEAN-China to closer cooperate in order to improve economic cooperation and regional transportation infrastructure such as railway, high speed rail, water and air way to reconnect China, Vietnam, Lao PDR, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore with an aim for sustainable transportation for tourism, trade and socio-economic development. Following his address on capital development after the meeting, Phnom Penh Deputy Governor had interview with Chinese TV and Media about Phnom Penh development in past couples of years with attendance from H.E ZHOU HONGBO, Governor of Nanning and Mr. LIAO JINYUAN, representative from Singapore.

Separately, Mr. KHOURN Sreng had a courtesy call with H.E CHEN WU, member of standing committee of Chines People Committee of Guangxi, and also secretary of Nanning People Committee. In the meeting, H.E CHEN WU expressed good will in establishing sister city with Phnom Penh, basing on cooperation in the field of economic, trade, tourism and investment. In response to purpose, Mr. KHOURN Sreng fully supports this initiative and conveyed this message to H.E Governor for consideration and seeking permission from the Royal Government.
