Recently, some newspaper agencies have published their news to criticize the authority’s measure related to the demonstration of Tai Neng garment workers on July 11th,2012.

Phnom Penh Capital Hall has the honor to inform the public that Phnom Penh Capital Hall has received the letter from Cambodia Syndicate Alliance, numbered 026 dated on July 09th,2012 signed by Mrs. YANG Sophoarn, chief of the syndicate and Mr. MAI Sopheaktra, secretary general of the syndicate to inform the planned meeting of workers at the democratic compound and bring the petition to Samdech HUN Sen , Prime Minister of Camboidia for his intervention.

Phnom Penh Capital Hall has invited the requesters on July 10th,2012 to discuss the responsibility and meeting procedure at the democratic compound. Within the meeting, the representatives of Cambodia Syndicate Alliance have signed the agreement with Phnom Penh Capital Hall to conduct the worker meeting at the democratic compound and only 20 representatives of them would bring the petition to the Prime Minister’s cabinet at the banyan tree in front of Botum Vatey pagoda and would demobilize after receiving the petition from the cabinet representative.

Phnom Penh Capital Hall would like to show the deep regret after Mr. RONG Chhun, chief of Cambodia Independent Teacher Association was present at the democratic compound on July 11th,2012 and convinced the workers to conduct the campaign to the Prime Minister HUN Sen residence which contrasted the minute of the meeting. Finally, Mr. RONG Chhun agreed to lead 20 representatives of workers to leave the petition at the Prime Minister’s cabinet after the coordination from the authority. There was the challenge happening between the authority and the workers because Mr. RONG Chhun refused to demobilize the meeting and also invoked the other workers who were standing at the democratic compound to leave for another meeting in front of Botum Vatey pogoda.

For the reasons of safety, security and public order whilst Phnom Penh Capital is organizing the ASEAN foreign minister summit, the authority has advised all of them to move back to the democratic compound but denied by them. Mr. RONG Panha, the nephew of Mr. RONG Chhun and also is university student has used violence and kicked the authority. The authority has no choice beside taking appropriete action based on the law.

Phnom Penh Capital Hall hopes that the public will understand clearly the root cause of this case.
