In the morning of June 21, 2012, at the Capital Hall, there was a meeting with AIMF’s mission team led by Ms. CHRISTIANE Blancot, Project Manager of City Cooperation and Mr. FRANK Chauviere, Environmentalist of the Phnom Penh – Paris Cooperation Project which had been conducted in 2007 – 2009. The meeting was chaired by Mr. KHUONG Sreng, Deputy Governor of Phnom Penh.

Ms. CHRISTIANE Blancot had conveyed her appreciation and mentioned that this time mission aimed to inspect and verify on the Phnom Penh – Paris Cooperation Project such as: 1. urbanization affairs (updating work of the North Development Plan of Phnom Penh), 2. mobilization and curb side management, 3. green space and parks and 4. water supply for the poor communities. This was to conduct a survey to understand what had been implemented and to provide pumping equipment to the Department of Public Works and Transport as well. It should be highlighted that the updated development work of Phnom Penh which had been done were based on the study of the working team such as: the construction of northern canal and the successful establishment of pumping station, arrangement on Road 130, installation of park on Charles de Gaulle and particularly the water supply to the poor community under the cooperation of Phnom Penh – Paris.

During that occasion, Mr. Deputy Governor had expressed his gratitude to the concern of the mission team which was really helpful to the development of Phnom Penh so far even though there were some gaps but we had tried our best to follow the instruction of the mission team as much as possible. According to various studies, we would try our best efforts to improve this city as much as we can; Phnom Penh is in need the support from Paris to provide technical expert as the development advisers. Mr. Deputy Governor had also requested the mission team to conduct a study on master plan, especially the project for public transport based on previous result due to population growth while Phnom Penh was expanded 20 more communes from Kandal Province. He strongly believed that the mission team would seriously work on those issues.
