May's Meeting Focused on Public Security and Order

Meeting on 21 May 2012 was held to monitor the public security and order and development in Phnom Penh, chaired by Mr. NOUN Someth, high-level representative of H.E Governor KEP Chuk Tema.
For this month, according to Phnom Penh Police report, Public forum was organized for 84 times totally in 75 communes, participated by 6,327 people. People requested local authorities and competence authorities to do more to stop and prevent crimes of stealing, robbery, sneaking, gangster, drugs, human trafficking and gambling from happening in their localities. They also requested for training on how to put out fire at hand before fire trucks arrival, the usage of fire extinguishers and the authorities to mobilize the street children, glue sniffers, and scavengers and send them to Social Affair Department for public order and prevention of robberies.
For the development works, Public Works Department presented about the garden construction project which is 2,500m long, from South bank of Chroy Chanva Bridge to Sokimex Gas Station in 3 communes: Sharh Chak, Toul Sangke and Russey Keo. Information center will also be established to give information on tourism, leisure spots, Khmer style buildings, river landscape, cruising and Khmer restaurants etc. New public light poles will also be installed along the Boulevard of Russian Federation and Norodom, using 114 new design poles from Angdong traffic light to Toul Kork traffic light and others 148 poles from Wat Phnom to Independent Monument and the Fountains.
