Green Park at Basac River Welcomes Public

A new park called, “Basac River Park”, located along Basac River, Daun Penh District’s Chak Tomuk Commune which has just been established has been now launched inauguration ceremony on 14th February 2012, presided over by H.E Governor KEP Chuk Tema.

According to Mr. SENG Vannak, Chief of Urban Planning Office, the park, which was before a dock of Naga Ship without attraction, has turned into a public green park under the project of Phnom Penh Capital Hall. He continued that the improvement of this park took over 6 months from 20th June 2011 to 30th December 2011, and the Capital Hall spent 731,130,400 Riels for the construction on the expansion of park surface to 5.422m2, new sewage installation, site-walk around the park, 4.2m x 180m equaling to 1,173m2, walking area inside the park laid with Khmer ground tiles for 1,198m2, laying grass for 2,252m2, 19 public light poles installation, 38 public benches, 2 round tables around palm trees, planting Kokis , Angkear Bos, Frangipani, Sakura, Red-Purple Guava, Kangork and Palm tree, equaling to 57 trees in total including 6 existing trees, and many kinds of plants on the area of 800m2.

Addressing in that occasion, H.E Governor stressed that after Naga Ship was transferred to NAGA WORLD, the area became a free land, and a target for business location from many private companies. Under serious consideration and advice from Samdech Prime Minister and Lork Chum Teav Kittiprittbandit, the park has been constructed to be a place for public leisure and exercise as well as it helps improving the image of Phnom Penh, deserving to be called a chamming Capital. Furthermore, H.E Governor has appealed to people who come to this park to public take responsibility for this asset through cooperation with Daun Penh Authority, and Chak Tomuk commune with an aim to keep this park a clean place always.
