Capital Hall and the 148th Anniversary of World Red Cross and Red Crescent

Anniversary of World Red Cross and Red Crescent was annually celebrated on 8th May to collect fund from local and oversea generous individuals. The 148th Anniversary of World Red Cross and Red Crescent under the theme “Volunteers Force, Humanitarian Efficiency” was held on 3rd May 2011 at Cambodian Red Cross Central Headquarter, CRC, in Ou Bek Khorm, presided over by the Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and Lok Chumteav Bun Rany Hun Sen, president of Cambodian Red Cross, head of international federation to South-East Asia delegation Mrs. Anne E.ELECLERC, head of delegation of regional ICRC and representative of International Red Cross Committee Mr. Jacques STROUN are also in attendance. In that occasion, H.E Governor KEP Chuk Tema and Madame, Royal Highness, Excellencies, Okhna, members and CRC volunteers participated as well.

The Anniversary is paramount important for CRC, the Royal Government and Cambodian people nationwide because it demonstrates commitments and concerted efforts of socio-economic development, especially for humanitarian purposes to resolve difficulties arising from natural disasters.

Basing on this principle, Phnom Penh Capital Hall, H.E Governor KEP Chuk Tema, honorable president of Municipal Red Cross, has contributed actively with the Royal Government to help victims of disasters, establishing accident volunteer working team, support victims and their families, help fire victims and support front line soldiers, to name a few. Phnom Penh leaders always pay attention to help support directly and reducing some difficulties of soldiers and their families as well as refugees of war triggered by aggressor Thailand on Cambodian territorial integrity.

It should be highlighted that temporary amount of fund collected in the 148th Anniversary is about 8.5 Millions USD of which 150,000 USD is a contribution from H.E KEP Chuk Tema and Madame.
