Due to narrow size of Sothearos Blvd which is difficult for trafficking in peak hours, Phnom Penh Capital Hall set up a plan to expand a section of this road to 5m width (from East 3m width and West 1m), of total 985m length. This project also comes along with some impacts such as on concrete wall of Fishery Department, adjacent to road, electricity cabin and network, underground and overhead cables, located along roadsides to be relocated.

On 17th July at Phnom Penh Capital Hall, Deputy Governor Mr. KHOURN Sreng led a discussion meeting on how to expand the road from Chamkarmon traffic light to Embassy of Russian Federation in Chamkarmon District’s Tonle Basac Commune with participation from OCIC Company and representatives from related departments. After the discussion, the meeting requested OCIC to provide budget for concrete wall removal of Fishery Department, and the authority will reimburse later. For the moving of electricity and cables, Department of Public Works has an obligation to closely work with EDC because it may cause electricity cut off in major state institutions, and date must be set clearly to do this job, including Sangkat and Khan Authority.
