  • Ceremony in Memory of the Birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, Father of the Nation

Indian embassy in Phnom Penh cerebrated the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi who led India to non-violence independence from the British. The ceremony was held on October 02, 2007 in front of Mahatma Gandhi statue placed at Phsa Chas Park in the presence of H.E KEP CHUK TEMA, Governor of Phnom Penh and Aloke Sen, Indian ambassador to Cambodia. Speaking at the ceremony, the ambassador said Mahatma Gandhi remained in the hearts of India people and he was regarded the Father of Peace and the most famous leader in Indian independence movement.

Also on that occasion, the Governor said Phnom Penh had the great honor to place Mahatma Gandhi statue at Phnom Penh historical compound. This is an indication of Cambodian gratitude to Mahatma Gandhi courage and set a good example to all the people around the world to live in peace.
