The Municipality of Phnom Penh held workshop on strengthening solid waste management in Phnom Penh in phase II (PPWM) on March 13, 2007 under the chairmanship of H.E KEP CHUK TEMA, Governor of Phnom Penh and Mr Jun Shi A NAI, a representative of JICA. The event brought up six main points as follows:

1. Strengthen PPWM's capacity to adequately manage and control the sanitary landfall
2. Strengthen PPWM's capacity to manage and control waste collection
3. Enhance PPWM's Finance
4. Strengthen PPWM's equipment O&M capacity
5. Strengthen PPWM's capability for supporting recycling activities by NGOs
6. Establish Department of Environment's system to monitor and control solid waste management operation such as waste collection and landfill operation .
