On June 20, 2007 the Municipality of Phnom Penh held a signing ceremony to award a contract to a Japanese company –
CTI to implement the Floodwater Protection Projects (Phase II) in Phnom Penh under the grant of the Japanese government. The agreement was reached between H.E KEP CHUK TEMA, Governor of Phnom Penh and Mr. MAEDA MASAKAZU, director of CTI. The projects will start from 2007 and will be completed in 2010 at an expected cost of $1.1 million.
The projects include drainage system restoration and the building of a huge underground sewage system at such areas as Wat Phnom, Phsa Chas, Central Market, Kandal Market, Vel Meru, Royal Palace and in front of former-Parliamentary building. The Governor firmly hopes that CTI will implement the above projects with positive results.
