• Meeting on the Dissemination of newly adopted code of Civil Procedure

On July 16, 2007 the Municipality of Phnom Penh conducted a meeting on the dissemination of Cambodia’s code of civil procedure which has been adopted recently. The ceremony was attended by H.E MAP SARIN, Deputy Governor of Phnom Penh, Mr. CHHIV KENG, Chief of Phnom Penh Municipality Court, city hall officials and police officers.

According to Mr. CHHIV KENG, the code of civil procedure consists of 588 articles. The purpose of the meeting is to push the judges to respect the specific principle law and encourage the people to choose reconciliation means. He appealed to local authorities to try their best to persuade the people to choose reconciliation or negotiation so that conflict can be solved by themselves or at local authority level. This will save them money and time instead of taking their case to the court.
