The inauguration ceremony for official use of the community hygiene, latrines, a pumping well and a dumping site for the poor of Phoum Andoung Thmey community, donated by LIEN AID SINGAPORE, was held on Friday, August 04, 2007. The ceremony was attended by Khan chief and his deputies, involved departments, commune council, LIEN AID, DA-IL Community, UNICEF, teachers, students and residents under the chairmanship of H.E Mann Chhoeurn, vice governor of Phnom Penh municipality and high representative of H.E Kep Chuk Tema, governor.

The statistic of the house renters moved from SambokChab community in Tonle Basac commune, Chomkamorn District, to the new site, Phoum Andoung Thmey, was 900 families. After that, Dangkor District established a working group to monitor the statistic and the house renters were seen to increase to 1,554 families. The Municipality of Phnom Penh negotiated with the private company to buy 3 hectares of land divided into 777 plots (4mx6m) for 440 families.

Today, several organizations and donors such as Unicef, Church of Hope, Maryknol, Medicin Sans Frontier, DA-IL Community, and UPDF have been helping the community people with building houses, providing household goods and other loans. They also have cooperation with Ministry of Rural Development in these affairs.

The community has also got assistance from LIEN AID SINGAPORE for community hygiene on an area of 35m x 40m, including latrines (6 for women and 5 for men), bathrooms ( 6 for women and 6 for men), a septic tank, a public laundry, waste water storage pond (10m x 20m), a pumping well, a generator and a dumping site, which cost over USD 30,000.00. This is due to the fact that LIEN AID has seen a good relationship between the local authority and the community residents.

His Excellency Mann Chhoeurn, vice governor of Phnom Penh Municipality, expressed profound thanks to LIEN AID SINGAPORE for helping the community with these facilities. in response to this kind assistance, His Excellency sincerely advised the community residents to use and maintain these achievements in a responsible manner in order to make the donors happy. Taking this opportunity, His Excellency also appeals to other donors for further assistance to the community.
