On October 12, 2006 the Municipality of Phnom Penh held a signing ceremony on a draft final report on the basic design study on flood protection and drainage improvement project. The agreement was reached between H.E KEP CHUK TEMA, Governor of Phnom Penh, a representative of Phnom Penh side, and Mr. HIKO YUKI UKAI, chief of basic design study team, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), a representative of Japan side. The agreement is focused on : - Renovation of river bank - Maintenance of the sewage and draining facilities around Wat Phnom - Maintenance of the sewage and draining facilities around Royal Palace and National Museum - Install a drainage system to channel to Beoung Tra Bek Lake
