On August 17, 2006 H.E LIM KEAN HOR, Minister for Water Resource and Meteorology accompanied by H.E KEP CHUK TEMA, Governor of Phnom Penh and several government officials inspected the flooding situation at Stung Prek Thnot and visited flood dike repairing where is mainly preventing the flooding in Phnom Penh. The municipal expert officials said the flood water raceded gradually at the west of Phnom Penh— Kompong Speu, Pursat, Koh Kong but the flooding at Stung Prek Thnot is rising since August 16-17 and it would continue to go up. The municipal experts and district authorities raise vigilance against flooding, monitor the flooding water level and assign force to be on 24-hour stand-by. .
