• Workshop on Women Issue in Communities in Phnom Penh

On Tuesday, August 15, 2006. The Urban Poor Women Development (UPWD) organised the Workshop on Women Issue in Communities with the participation of 200 Women from Communities in Phnom Penh, Under the Chairmanship of H.E MANN CHHOEURN, Vice governor of Phnom Penh Municipality.

Firstly, Ms. SUM SAMON, Director of Urban Poor Women Development, reported on the achievements made by the women in communities and other challenges. Later on they strongly requested the Phnom Penh Municipality as follow :
- The Municipality should buy land for two communities, Chamroeun Phal community in Meanchey and Phal Andeth community in Roeuseykeo, and the people promise to pay the land by installment.
- The Municipality should provide them the small-business loan.

H.E MANN CHHOEURN, Vice governor of Phnom Penh Municipality, accepts the requests and submit to the governor for approval. Finally, He also disseminated the Millenium Development Goals (MDGs) to the participants for understanding.
