12 Poor Communities Received about 50 Thousand Dollars

12 poor communities in Phnom Penh received about 50 thousand dollars by cheque from the Municipality of Phnom Penh on August 25, 2005 for their community’s development project. The in charge official said the that most of the proposal are about the infrastructure development. In the occasion of providing US 53,037 dollars to the communities’ representatives, H.E KEP CHUK TEMA, Governor of Phnom Penh, told the people in the community for self-management and self-strengthening through the communities’ saving account. Nowadays, there are 597 communities in Phnom Penh which are the hard burden of the Municipality to solve and develope. The governor said that SAMDECH HUN SEN has too much paid attention to the development in the poor communities in Phnom Penh by laying down two new policies. First , sharing some part of the city’s land for the poor who can access clean water, electricity and street. Second, on site development [develop 100 communities per year] which have been performing since 2003 by the City Hall.
