The Municipality of Phnom Penh held a meeting chaired by H.E KEP CHUK TEMA, Governor of Phnom Penh, to instruct officials to be ready to tighten security and public order on the 52nd anniversary of the National Independence Day October 9 and Water Festivals on 15-19 November. On the Independence Day, all private and public institutions and district offices in Phnom Penh are required to decorate their buildings with flags banners and lights, and send officials to attend a mass rally at the Independence Monument on the morning of November 9 and at noon on November 11. The city hall will also organize scheduled visits for its officials to call upon poor people living in various communities. The city hall said in the run up to all districts must get boats [ Touk Oum, Touk Chev] ready and rower well trained for the boat racing. The city hall also instructed the Phnom Penh Department of Public Works and Transportation and CINTRY to collect the garbage in a timely way.
