SAMDECH HUN SEN , prime minister of the Royal Government of Cambodia, accompanied by senior officials, the present of H.E. KEP CHUK TEMA , Governor of Municipality of Phnom Penh and   The Japan's ambassador, presided over the Inauguration Ceremony, The project for flood protection and drainage improvement in Phnom Penh city

 

According to request of the government of the Kingdom of Cambodia, the government of Japan carried out the master plan and feasibility study on the flood protection and urban drainage improvement in Phnom Penh city and suburb form March 1998 to August 1999 through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Up to August 27, 2002, the government Japan has decided to provide Grand Aid 2.065 million yen to 16.877.700 million USD to carried out the following project. -Reinforcement of Tumpung ring dike
-Construction of New Tompun pumping station with 15m3/second (pumping gate station 3m3/secondx5)
-Improvement of drainage channel connected to the new pumping gate station, 28m of width and 1021m of length.   
-Improvement of the Treng Meanchey Drainage channel in the downstream (From station #1020 to Treng Meanchey with 2635 meter of length.
