H.E. KEP CHUK TEMA, Governor of Phnom Penh Municipality, presides over the The Inauguration Ceremony of Pump Gate in Cooperation study between DPWT and KUBOTA Corporation.
The purpose of the cooperation study between DPWT and KUBOTA Corporation to be qualified and reduced the rainfall flood in this area. By this way, the project of water supply and drainage to be implemented by the loan ADB and OPEC fund and the running project of Flood Protection and Drainage Improvement granted by the Royal Government of Japan, are the main goals of the Municipality of Phnom Penh for upgrading in the good condition of the urban infrastructure.
The East of the city which surrounding area such as Watt Phnom, Central Market, Psar Kandal, National Museum and the National Assembly are always faced by the rainfall flood. In the last resolution in 1997, one pumping machine could be running but not available to accomplish positively.
This year, the Municipality of Phnom Penh proposes to the Royal Government of Japan for granting and implementing the project of Flood Protection and Drainage Improvement Phase II to result about the rainfall flood in the above said areas. Over the experiment time of a small Pump Gate to really qualify but could be also to contribute the reduction of rainfall flood in these areas and we are noted that experiment which be done, should be continued to implement the scale project to restore and to develop the city infrastructure.
