  • Press Conference on Wat Phnom Grand Prix

H.E. MAP SARIN, Vice Governor of Phnom Penh Municipality, gave the press  conference  on  preparing of car racing GO-KART in Phnom Penh to acclaim  the upcoming new year. Total Diesel Company has planned to perform  car  racing  GO-KART, which  speeds  up to 130 K.M/h, called “Wat Phnom Grand Prix”. The car racing will hold on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11 th, April 2004. This is the sport event of car racing that is the biggest and never hold in Cambodia history. The  racing  will  depart  from Ministry of Telecommunication and Post, turn  path  to Preah  Sisowath Blvd., turn to west  to Wat Phnom and turn to started point.

The  purpose of this day  to encourage Cambodian young athletes of car racing to be good accelerated. Long term goal is provide opportunities and  experiences  to Cambodian athletes in order to enter the international contest  and  to satisfy  their dream  of  racing  Formula  One. This is also attracting more tourists to visit Phnom Penh in the future.

GO-KART Racing is the international sport and good basic for car racing contestant.  Three  Cambodian  contestants, who  are  member of  Total Diesel Company 8 years, will participate to compete for the Wat Phnom Grand Prix with other 27 competitors from 9 foreign countries. On April 11, 2004, the program starts from 8 A.M. all contesters have 3 hours to check the machine and experience with real arena. The contester competes each other to go to final round at the evening. On April 12, 2004 the final race, reward giving and concert start from 4 P.M. This program is sponsored   by   Total   Diesel   Company,  Indochine  Insurance,  other companies and Phnom Penh Municipality.
