MPP studied several areas in Phnom Penh in 1995 and 1997
The area in Dang Kor was selected as the most suitable area in these study (less flooded, good accessibility, and enough space) based on these studies
The team reviewed previous studies and drew the same conclusion
What kinds of problems are assumed to arise at a disposal site?
o Breeding of flies, worms, and so on
o Bad smell
o Air pollution caused by fire of waste
o Water pollution caused by leachate (water come through layers of waste)

Environment Impact Assessment
What is EIA
To examine if problems arise or not
If problems are expected to arise
To expect what kinds of problems arise
To examine possible counter measures to prevent or mitigate these problems
How to expect?
To analyze air and water quality
To study social and economic conditionsHow to prevent or mitigate these problems?
